Chapter 7

End of Days

May 14, 1948. This is not only the day that the nation of Israel reappeared on the map, but it was also the day that God's prophetic time clock began ticking again to signal the coming of the end of days. Israel is the timepiece God's plan goes by. The entire Bible and the whole world are seen by God from the perspective of Israel and Jerusalem, and all His plans are centered there.

Many names are associated with this time frame, such as "the last days," "the day of vengeance," "times of restitution," "the hour of temptation," "the latter days," or the "tribulation," as it's called in Revelation 7:14: "And I said unto him, 'Sir, thou knowest.' And he said to me, 'These are they which came out of great tribulation.'" There are actually two tribulations, the seven-year tribulation that will usher in the antichrist, and the tribulation of Jesus when He pours out seven vials of wrath in the book of Revelation. Contrary to popular belief, Jesus is not

returning with flowers and candy; "Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division" (Luke 12:51). He is coming with God's army to defeat the adversaries of God with plenty of fire and brimstone or sulfur, as we read in Luke 12:49: "I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?"

We read of His coming again in Ezekiel 38:22, but with an interesting twist: And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

In Ezekiel we see a view of the end of days, with the ingredients of fire, sulfur, and hailstones. At no time in history was this verse understood with both ice and fire in the same equation, until this generation. In a nuclear detonation, the upper atmosphere is compressed very quickly and the water solidifies into large pieces of hail that fall to the earth. With a possible nuclear exchange in the Middle  East, man will kindle the fire and Jesus will finish it.

We read in II Peter 3:6-7 that, unlike the first Earth age, which was ended by water, the second Earth age will end by fire:

6. Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

7. But the heavens and earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
